Testing bolt pullers

When hardware needs to be replaced, it can be a pain in the wrench trying to get old bolts out.

I recently had a little afternoon session with the Hurley Sr and the HowNot2 pull tester.

A few interesting take aways:
Concrete blocks are inexpensive and incredibly durable.
I tested the pull tester on dry wave bolts in a 14mm hole and they pulled easily. (Unfortunately I didn’t have a 1/2″ bit on hand this afternoon.)

I also pull tested the wedge bolt to torque. No deformation of the hanger.

Then I hooked up the Hurley Sr to the wedge bolt, without spinning it (on purpose – I wanted to see what would happen). You can see the results in the photos!
